Ying Chang Compestine's Revolution is Not a Dinner Party: A Novel: A Quick Review!

Revolution is Not a Dinner Party is about Ling's life during the Cultural Revolution. It is about how her life changed and how she changed as a person. I like this book because it was a good story and explained a lot about the history of China. I liked this book also because it's history and it's one of my favorite subjects. You should read this book because it explains a lot about one side of the Cultural Revolution and it has a sense of fiction although it all really happened.

Sylvia Olsen's The Girl with a Baby: A Short Review by Deji!

This book is about a girl named Jane who gets pregnant and does not tell anyone but her boyfriend until the day of the birth. I like this book because it gets to the point and doesn't waste your time. You should read this book because it tells a story that maybe someone you know has lived.

Linda Zuckerman's A Taste of Rabbit: A Review by Elliot!

In the book entitled A Taste for Rabbit, Harry the Fox is given a job by his brother, Issac, who seems to have some shady dealings. Harry sets off to search for the Scouts that are missing from the prosperous city Fox Burro, which is suffering from a shortage of rabbits. The story switches between Harry and Quentin, a small rabbit with strong views on the government that is slightly corrupt. But when Frank and Zack, Quentin's friends, report that Frank's children and wife are missing, they know they must do something. In my opinion A Taste for Rabbit is one of the most descriptive and enchanting books I have read. The characters are developed beautifully and this book is an amazing work of art.

Cornelia Funke's Inkheart: A Review by Spencer

Inkheart is a book about a girl named Meggie whose dad is a bookbinder with a special power. If he reads a section from a book out loud, characters from that book will come into our world. But when these characters come out of the book, people from our world are transported into the book! So when Meggie's dad brings three characters out of a book; her mom vanishes! This is a great book about Meggie trying to find her mom. Inkheart is a great book because it's not like any book I've read before!

They're sent to a stage school to learn the art of acting and dancing in order to earn money as actors and dancers. But are they all cut out for it? Will they earn enough money? Will Professor Brown ever return to provide for them? Read this book to find out. Noel Streatfeild brilliantly brings the characters to life in order to tell this story. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys acting and dancing, and anyone who wishes to step out of their own life and into another. - By Gisela

Welcome back!

Welcome back Tigers! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer vacation!

Over the summer, I traveled to Zimbabwe in the year 2194--by reading Nancy Farmer's The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm. The story takes place in a Zimbabwe of the future, where criminals are virtually nonexistent--except for the fearsome gang called The Masks. Read the book to find out how Tendai, Rita, and Kuda (a brothers-sister trio) are kidnapped and the detectives Ear, Eye and Arm attempt to track them down. You'll be zipping through the pages to discover if they will be able to save the children before losing them forever to the Masks! You can find The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm as well as Nancy Farmer's other books here at the Longfellow Library!

Did you travel someplace over the summer? Better yet--was it through a book? Post a comment (remember to follow the comment posting rules) to share your summer reading stories!
